How to Treat Aches and Muscle Pain
Our body sends warning signals in the form of pain, indicating a problem in a specific area. Muscle pain, or myalgia, occurs when the nerves connected to muscle fibers are stimulated and transmit signals to the brain, causing pain. Therapists locate the problematic trigger point by facilitating the muscle during treatment.
There are various treatments for muscle pain. Massage therapy applies physical stimulation to promote blood circulation in the affected muscle and alleviate pain. It is a non-invasive treatment, but the duration is short. Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS) involves giving stimulation to the inside of the muscle by injuring it with a needle. Although it promotes blood circulation and stimulates the muscle, it requires damaging the fascia or muscle itself, which may cause significant pain during treatment, and inexperienced practitioners pose a high risk.
Electro-Acupuncture is my preferred treatment method, where needles are inserted into the affected muscles, and an electric stimulator provides appropriate stimulation to promote blood circulation and relieve pain. The treatment does not cause significant pain, and the duration is longer. However, patients may experience general muscle pain for 1-2 days if they are strongly stimulated during treatment.
It is crucial to seek treatment as soon as possible as pain can reduce the quality of life. Ignoring pain warnings may lead to worse outcomes, and chronic pain requires much more treatment than acute pain. Besides massage therapy and IMS, there are pain relievers, exercise therapy, and other forms of treatment available. Remember to take care of your body and seek treatment promptly if you experience any pain.
